Ivars Iesalins

A man wearing safety glasses and a light-colored hoodie is sanding a piece of wood in a woodworking shop with sunlight coming through the window.

Ivars, based in Latvia, transforms reclaimed Baltic wood into sculptural wall and floor pieces that play with light and space. His work is deeply rooted in respect for the forest, in the memory and texture of wood, and the idea of connection — between material, space and viewer. Each piece is shaped by hand, honouring the past life of the timber while creating new dimensional presence. Bringing Ivars Design’s craftsmanship to Orcas Island means bridging Baltic forest legacy with Pacific-Northwest forest consciousness: design envisioned on Orcas, and crafted in Latvia, where the wood retains its story of place and time.”

From One Forest to Another

Ivars Design brings a connection between two forests — from the ancient woodlands of Latvia to the wild, coastal forests of Orcas Island. Each piece is designed on Orcas Island and crafted in Latvia, merging Baltic craftsmanship with Pacific Northwest spirit. A meeting of two landscapes, two cultures, and one shared reverence for nature.
