This September, Orcas Art Barn is pleased to present new work by Laura Yeats, a wood turner and artist whose practice begins where a tree’s life ends.
Laura transforms fallen trees into utilitarian bowls, sculptural forms, and works on paper. Her aesthetic is rooted in minimalism and a deep attentiveness to each tree’s story.
From burls and bug trails to the contrast between heartwood and sapwood — these natural characteristics lie hidden beneath the bark and are met with reverence in every piece she makes.
